Privacy Policy

The short version: your fishing data is yours. We use it to make the app work for you, we never sell it, and you can delete all of it whenever you want.

What we collect

Your account email and username. The fishing data you create: trips, catches, photos, notes, saved spots, gear, badges, and your home-water preferences. If you allow location access, we record GPS coordinates on catches you log so your map and forecasts work — location is captured only when you log a catch, never in the background.

How we use it

To run the app: your catch history personalizes your bite forecasts and recommendations. Catch photos you submit for identification are processed by an AI service (Anthropic) to suggest the species. A daily fishing report is generated using your recent activity summary and public weather data. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your data with advertisers.

Sharing you control

Nothing you log is visible to other users unless you explicitly share it. If you tap “Share to the Dock” on a catch, other signed-in users can see that catch’s photo, species, size, your display name, and the date — never its location. You can unshare at any time from the catch page.

Services we rely on

Supabase hosts our database, authentication, and photo storage. Mapbox provides map tiles and may collect device telemetry per its own policy. Weather and tide data come from NOAA and Open-Meteo using approximate coordinates, with no account identifiers attached. The National Weather Service provides advisories.

Photos

Catch photos are stored so they can load in your log and, if you share one, in the community spotlight. Treat catch photos as potentially visible: avoid photographing documents or other people without their OK.

Deleting your data

In the app: Gear tab → Delete Account permanently removes your account and all data — trips, catches, photos, spots, gear, badges, reports, and profile. This is immediate and irreversible. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

Inshore Bite is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
